Former Bermuda Cricket Coach Heading to Jamaica

gus logieBermuda’s former National Cricket Coach Gus Logie will become the new Jamaica coach on December 1. The Jamaica Observer newspaper reported that he will replace Junior Bennett in the position, with the Jamaica Gleaner saying he is signed to a 4 month contract.

Mr Logie, 50, is a former West Indies and Trinidad and Tobago cricketer and is currently an international cricket coach. He played in dominant West Indies team of the 1980s, making 52 Test appearances and playing in 158 One Day Internationals, scoring three international centuries.

He served as West Indies coach between 2003 and October 2004, having previously served as Canada’s cricket team coach. While coaching Bermuda, he led the team to qualify for the 2007 World Cup, Bermuda’s first qualification in history for the event.
