Mussenden’s FIFA Committee to Hear Appeal

January 13, 2011

fifa_logoFIFA’s Independent Appeals Committee, chaired by Bermuda Football Association president Larry Mussenden, will hear the appeals of FIFA members Amos Adamu and Reynald Temarii who were suspended amidst corruption allegations.

FIFA, Fédération Internationale de Football Association, is the international governing body of football.

Britain’s BBC reported that “FIFA executive committee members Amos Adamu and Reynald Temarii have formally appealed against suspensions imposed after corruption allegations.”

“Nigeria’s Adamu was banned for three years after he was caught seeking bribes from undercover reporters. Temarii, from Tahiti, was cleared of corruption but received a one-year ban for breaching confidentiality rules.”

“Both deny wrongdoing, and football’s world governing body said hearing dates will be confirmed ‘in due course’. Both men were barred from voting on who should host the 2018 and 2022 World Cups in December.”

  1. Tony says:

What I would like to hear the BFA President discuss is his views on the alleged corruptiuon in FIFA and in particular his views on the much maligned Jack Warner.

Mr Mussenden has quite often spoken positively about his relationship with both Blatter and Warner and it is widely known within the local football fraternity that Mussenden and Sabir are thought of highly by Warner, hence the elevation of both to lofty roles in both CONCACAF and FIFA.

It would be good to know their thoughts on FIFA given the current ( world wide ) negative views of FIFA and in particular Blatter and Arner..

History has already shown that FIFA seem incapable of ethical behaviour. Clearly what we have witnessed over the Blatter and Waner reign is one scandal after another.

    • Tony says:

It is past time that CONCACAF countries distance themselves from Jack Warner. He has been embrolied in one contentious matter after another to inlude recently positioning
his son as one of the major players in the CONCACAF Admin office. That after the pay for votes scandal, the untidy incident with T&T World Cup players not being paid, etc, etc, etc.

It is past time that we heard from our Association on these matters and why they believe Jack should be retained. If it is purely that he supports BDA and funds our initiatives and that ethics and moral values play no part in business, then say so…

    Let’s hear it Larry..
