Accident in Paget: Cycle Rider Injured

[Updated] This afternoon [Aug.28] emergency services responded to an accident on South Shore Road in Paget in which a  female rider crashed over the edge of the road into an area of brush.

Passersby stopped to assist the injured female and comfort her until emergency services could attend. The Bermuda Fire and Rescue Service arrived on scene and appeared to attempt to secure the injured rider to a backboard. Once the ambulance arrived both crews worked to free the woman from the brush and she was then transported to King Edward Memorial Hospital for treatment.

The rider’s injuries are unknown as details are limited, however we will update as able.

Update: A Police spokesman said, “Around 1pm on Sunday, police and first responders attended a reported single vehicle road traffic collision resulting in injury on South Road in Paget near the junction with Southcote Road. It appears that a rental cycle was traveling along South Road when it collided with a wall. The rider, a 19 year old Devonshire woman, was injured. Her injuries are not considered serious.”
