At least they fixed the spelling mistakes.

    • LaVerne Furbert says:

We fixed the mistakes just for you. We know how you spend your days looking for typographical errors.

      • jt says:

        Thanks Laverne – you’re a trooper.

        • jt says:

BTW – you were quick off the mark here LF. Nothing better to do than spend your days looking for critics of BIU and PLP?

          • Frank says:

She’s the biggest Troll on here – always fishing for somewhere to put her biased 2 cents in…. all the while she’s “working.”

            • What is going on? says:

              Nothing else better to do.

            • tricks are for kids says:

LOL!!!!! Frank you are killing me!!!! Holla! LOL!!!

              • Argosy says:

It starts with the small stuff, LVF, like typos, bad grammar, etc….

A surprising stand from a normally articulate individual!

“We set ourselves a very low standard which we consistently fail to attain;”…..the slippery slope??

        • pepper says:

lavern. why do you have so much hate in your heart ? do you sleep well at night ? good lord lady enjoy the last days of your life…you have become a joke on the talk shows and blogs….seek some help.

      • Family Man says:

Great job Laverne. I assume you had to hire someone to do it thus reducing our unemployment. A win-win all around.

Now about those accounts for 2010 …. any idea when they’ll be filed with the ROC?

      • pepper says:

Lavern, i think you are at the retirement age…The B.I.U. should retire you …The Union members are fed up with your constant biased calls to the talk shows !!!! Chris , Lavern is your down fall…get rid of this hateful women….

      • pepper says:

Lavern . we know how you spend your days…all you do is call every talk show everyday….so we all know how you spend your days…and how much do you get paid from the B.I.U.?

      • CBA says:

It could still be better. ‘Of’ should probably be changed to ‘for’. The meeting is for all Cablevision employees. Almost there though!

  2. Mountbatten says:

Please Chris don’t take our t.v. away from us , the olympics is coming soon .

  3. Kim Smith says:

In my opinion, the fact that most, if not all BIU/management relationships remain contentious speaks to the lack of skills of the parties involved.

  4. Mack says:

How this urgent meeting is held at 6pm, after working hours, minimising the effect on the public….yet, when PTB employee’s and other government staff meet, it has to be in the middle of the day at the most inconvenient time for the public in general?

    • black seal says:

it does not minimize the effects on the public it maximizes them as that is prime time for home tv and internet so you know there will be slow net and dropped channels

    • wtf says:

well 6:00 is even worse whrn ppl are trying to get home from work.
not defending them but how manny full busses you see in the middle of the day.

  5. Amazed says:

You can’t complain this time, the meeting is being held outside of normal business hours.

  6. jt says:

Why do they call a Cablevision meeting for 6p.m. and bus drivers (or whatever) for the middle of the day? Or is this the new standard?

  7. ABC says:

LOL CABLEVISION SERVICES IS PURE SHI.
HANG UP ON U RUDE ARROGANT …………………..
OH WELL DE GOOD LORD DOESNT SLEEP : )

AND WEN U GET EXPOSED BY PEOPLE ABOUT THEIR INTERNET SPEED ULL SEE

    ITS JUST DE BEGGIN

ANY CABLEVISION CUSTOMERS CHECK OUT UR SPEED

    http://www.speedtest.net/

MAKE SURE U R GETTIN WHAT U PAY FOR

    • sandgrownan says:

Ha, that’s true, the cable internet service does indeed suck.

    • John says:

The speed of your internet is not determined by CV, it’s determined by your ISP.

      • Onion says:

While that may be partly true, CV is responsible for your line going into your house. They tend to share nodes (on poles) with other homes in the neighborhood, so you don’t always get all your bandwidth.

      • ABC says:

@ john say that 2 northrock or logic u must be an emploee of cv

cablevision is a share connection not like dsl

if ur area is heavenly traffic ur speed drops big time dont blame isp

and for the manager he should be fired a FOREIGNER that arrongant and cocky maybe HE should explain 2 us all

  8. Soooooo says:

So how come this BIU meeting is called after work hours…. But….. When any Governmet division has a meeting the public are inconvenienced?

  9. flikel says:

I just do not understand why so many people here are anti union.

I do not agree with all the policies and practices of the union, but I have to admit that all workers, in all sectors, have benefited from the actives of the union.

Unions have fought for vacation, sick, maternity among other benefits. Their fight has benefited non-unionized employees as well.

As a worker in IB, many of the benefits that I take for granted were initially fought for by unions.

Who can argue this point? Can worker honestly say that they have not benefited from the activities of the unions of this country?

I remember when certain businesses only offered 5 days vacation. Who initially lead the fight for additional vacation days…unions.

Who initially lead the fight for the maternity benefits that many of us take for granted…..unions.

Who initially lead the fight for many of the protections afforded to all workers under the employment act…..unions.

If we were honest, we have to admit that the unions have benefited us all…from the blue collar bus drivers, to the accountants in IB.

    • Gillian says:

@flikel yes it’s true that’s what Unions were set up to achieve and they did. Now though, they are a bunch of bully boys sulking if they don’t get their own way. This meeting is called to discuss Migrant Workers conditions – amongst other things – I hope that means some Migrant Workers are being treated unfairly and the Union is going to help them – but I seriously doubt that! More likely complaining about them “taking our jobs” which, to me anyway, is rasicm!

    • alicia says:

Whilst I agree that unions at one point had their place and were an important part of labour acts and employee rights, unions are not as important anymore for ensuring fair working conditions and are most often now being used as a bargaining tool and as a crutch for employees who would not normally get ahead (or sometimes even keep a job) in the non-union industries.

    • Barracuda says:

It is an outdated institution , like religion .

    • Rick Rock says:

All that stuff was 50 years ago. If unions continue with an anachronistic approach they will (and already have) become less relevant. These days they do nothing but add cost.

  10. sharky says:

Maybe someone should tell the CableNoVision customer service reps that they should at least say thank you to the “migrants” when they pay them every month for this second rate service and they should be thankfull not everyone has swithched to WOW.
I switched and the staff at WOW are great and appreciate my buisness!

    • Razor Ramon says:

I cancelled CV with 3 weeks left on this Island. I preferred going without TV for that long than to deal with their service another second.

  11. Mama Bear says:

Ok, Unions were great, BACK in the DAY. Now Gov’t standards have caught up and all is fair across the board. Now a days – unions are fear mongers, who basically take your money ..take money – for what?
Disgusting Service from Cablevision – I cancelled and moved to wow. How come Cablevision has blacked out channels (out of their control) yet I am supposed to STILL PAY? I want a customer union!!! If the channel is blacked out/ I am sure Cablevision is not paying for it, so why are the CUSTOMERS?
Union/schmounion…back in the day yes, required, now it is a joke.

  12. Razor Ramon says:

    I smell another wildcat strike!

  13. smoke and mirrors says:

Why does it “seem” the urgent union meetings are called by the same union organizer time and time again. Come to a union meeting lol the organizer runs the shows, acts like he is their boss not management…….somebody around there has crybaby syndrome ……..there are plenty other unions on this island but this one always seem like they gotta be having “fits”. Everyday i do “plenty” that is not considered my job but complaining in these times where people are losing houses and jobs….shoooooot…..these guys want you give and give for them doing the minimum amount of work….STOP CRYING.
