Pearman Appointed Collector Of Customs

The Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of National Security confirmed today that the Governor has approved the recommendation of the Public Service Commission that Mrs. Lucinda “Cindy” Pearman be appointed Collector of Customs.

Mrs. Pearman is an experienced Bermudian Civil Servant who began her career April 1978 at age 18 as a Customs Officer with the Government of Bermuda.

A Government statement said: “After ten years with HM Customs, she was promoted to the rank of Senior Customs Officer where she directly managed various areas of the Customs Department, including Vessel Clearance, Baggage Hall, Longroom and the Airmail Facility.

“As she continued in her career with HM Customs, she was next promoted to the rank of Principal Customs Officer in 2000 and became responsible for the Hamilton Long room and Courier Facilities. A year later, Mrs. Pearman was then promoted to the rank of Assistant Collector, Commercial Operations, and although she was directly responsible for this area, she also had additional involvement with all other aspects of Customs, including working closely with the Bermuda Police Service.

“Over the years Mrs. Pearman has amassed a vast experience assisting and interacting with many clients of the trade industry and Government Agencies.

“Mrs. Lucinda Pearman, overall, has thirty four years’ experience working in the Customs Department and brings a wealth of knowledge and leadership to the post of Collector. In addition her qualifications in Human Resource Certification and Management Certification are a testament of her lifelong commitment to the profession.

“Mrs. Pearman resides in Sandys Parish with her husband and two sons.”

    As someone who has not only worked with you through ‘other agencies’ and as a member of the public with Customs ‘issues’ that needed to be resolved I know you will bring a fresh and caring attitude to the service.
