Cayla Cross Named Tennis Player Of Week
Bermuda’s Cayla Cross was named the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Women’s Tennis Player of the Week.
Cross — who is studying accounting in North Carolina — was the only North Carolina A&T player to take her opponent to three sets in the team’s season opener on Jan. 18 against Appalachian State.
At the No. 4 singles spot, Cross lost the first set 6-2, before coming back to take the second set 6-3. She lost the third set. Cross also teamed with Scott in No. 2 doubles, and the duo totaled four points, the most doubles points by an Aggie doubles team on the day.
The former Berkeley Institute honour student has represented Bermuda in numerous international tennis competitions held in Guatemala, Saint Vincent, Barbados, the Bahamas and the United States.
