Bermuda Tennis Players Compete In El Salvador

ten130323Bermuda’s participation in the Junior Fed Cup and the Junior Davis Cup came to an end in San Salvador, El Salvador.

By days end all positions were decided, with the Bermuda girls landing in 8th position. Eva Frazzoni and Taylor McHarg lost their singles matches both in two sets. There was no requirement to complete the doubles as the outcome would have no further effect on the positions.

The Bermuda boys finished 12th overall. Courtland Boyle and William Way played the singles and they lost by similar scores to their Bahamas opponents. Boyle went down to Shannon Frances 6 – 2, 6 – 0 and Way went down to Joshua Turnquest 6 – 3, 6 – 0, again there was no requirement to play the doubles match.

The 2013 Pre-qualifying champion nations were the Dominican Republic in the Junior Davis Cup, they defeated Honduras in the final. In the Junior Fed Cup it was Cuba who had a close victory over Puerto Rico two matches to one. The Dominican Republic and Cuba now go on to compete in the Qualifying proper in May in a round robin with the USA, Canada and Mexico.
