The Bermuda Tourism Authority [BTA] has launched its “9 People, 9 Parishes” feature, showcasing the island’s nine parishes through the stories, traditions, and local perspectives of the residents who know them best.

The BTA website said, “You might not even realise it’s happening, but as you explore Bermuda, you’ll cross invisible boundaries into distinct parishes, each with its own subtle charm. You’ll notice a shift, from sophisticated and chic to laid-back and relaxed, from historic to coastal.

“Our parishes aren’t just lines on a map; they’re vibrant, welcoming communities. Each one uniquely reflects Bermuda’s rich heritage and diverse cultures in ways you’ll only discover by experiencing them firsthand.

“Discover Bermuda through the people who know it best. 9 People, 9 Parishes invites you into the island’s nine communities, each shaped by its own rhythm, stories, and traditions. Guided by locals, uncover hidden corners, from neighborhood fish spots and quiet coves to deep-rooted pride, living history, and the everyday moments that define Bermuda beyond the brochure.”

The BTA has released the first video showcasing Sandys, and will be releasing additional videos in the campaign in the coming weeks.

  1. Triangle Drifter says:

This is nothing but some sort of expensive ‘feel good’ production for the locals.

Visitors could not care less about a whose who in Bermuda any more than we care about somewhat notable local characters when we travel.

A total waste of money that could have been spent doing some real tourism promotion by the BTA. If nothing else it demonstrates how poorly the BTA has been managed since 2018.

    • Yep. Lost in the triangle says:

If you are under 40 and walk in with an idea they will take it because they are so afraid they will lose a vote. Who was consulted re their list to get it right? Parish consuls.? Nobody. Let’s see if it produces results or dies out from a lack of real substance. So i’ll give them a chance.

    • Joe Bloggs says:

For my part, I enjoy exploring local culture when I travel.

And don’t forget, visitors have been complaining for years about the lack of things to do in Bermuda. If this initiative provides something for visitors to appreciate in Bermuda, I support it.
