In an effort to improve customer service, the Department of Immigration has introduced dedicated email channels for enquiries relating to “work permits, British Overseas Territories Citizen [BOTC] Bermuda passports, Bermudian status, and Permanent Resident’s Certificate applications.”

A Government spokesperson said, “As part of its ongoing efforts to enhance customer service, the Department of Immigration is pleased to announce that, effective June 1, 2026, members of the public will be able to submit specific enquiries directly to the Department.

“Enquiries relating to work permits, British Overseas Territories Citizen [BOTC] Bermuda passports, Bermudian status, and Permanent Resident’s Certificate applications may be submitted through the following dedicated government email addresses:

  • “Work Permits – workpermit@gov.bm
  • “British Overseas Territories Citizen [BOTC] Bermuda Passports – botcpassport@gov.bm
  • “Bermudian Status and Permanent Resident’s Certificate Applications – statusprc@gov.bm

“Members of the public who submit inquiries through these email addresses can expect an acknowledgement or response within 2 business days.”

Minister of Economy and Labour Jason Hayward said, “The introduction of these dedicated email channels reflects the Department’s ongoing commitment to improving customer service and making Immigration services more accessible and responsive to the public. We have listened to the concerns and feedback from our community, and this initiative is another important step towards delivering a more efficient and customer-focused service.”

A Government spokesperson added, “The Department of Immigration takes this opportunity to remind the public that complaints relating to employers and/or employees who may be abusing the Work Permit Policy or Immigration laws can be reported to the Department’s Compliance Section by calling 246-8059 [Hamilton Office] or 444-1050 [Airport Office].

“Complaints may also be submitted anonymously by calling the Immigration Hotline at 296-5202, online at https://www.doiapps.gov.bm/immigrationtips/, or by emailing Immigrationcomplaints@gov.bm.

“When submitting complaints, members of the public are encouraged to provide sufficient information to allow investigations to proceed.”

The young lady I dealt with 3 years ago was polite and efficient. It is not her fault that my file at immigration had incorrect information on it or that it took 10 months to process my application to renew my passport.

On a daily basis you drift in here to vent your grievances about Bermuda politics, and now you’re dropping the bombshell that Immigration has or perhaps currently holds, a file on you. If your relationship with Bermuda is this toxic, do us all a favor and leave clown.

With that passport he is likely to return, stating that his home country Bermy is currently the safest place to be with what’s going on in the crazy world.

The website that is published in this article does not work and it hasn’t worked for over 4 years. The hotline that you call does not function and this statement below is simple not true, no one responds within 2 days. “Members of the public who submit inquiries through these email addresses can expect an acknowledgement or response within 2 business days.”

Furthermore, When was the last time your dept actually investigated a work permit violation? You make statements like below but your dept does nothing.
“The Department of Immigration takes this opportunity to remind the public that complaints relating to employers and/or employees who may be abusing the Work Permit Policy or Immigration laws can be reported to the Department’s Compliance Section by calling 246-8059 [Hamilton Office] or 444-1050 [Airport Office].

      Every time any union complains.

Hopefully this will not fall short as the promised 4-6 week processing for passports has and those in the control seat have given the workers the tools and structure to work with to make response time happen as promised.
