May 23, 2013

bsoaDue to overwhelming demand, the Bermuda Society of Arts [BSoA] Onions Gallery has extended the run of its exhibit “Heritage Month: Colours, Sights and Sounds of Bermuda” until June.

A collaborative effort between City Hall and BSoA that coincided with the City Art Festival, the show focuses on the art that is inspired by Bermuda’s culture and charms.

Meanwhile the BSoA’s Edinburgh Gallery is featuring “Suspended in Time”, a show by Emily Bierman inspired by dreams, memories and perception. Suspended in Time by Emily Biermann.

“I am interested in how we arrange consolidate and erode images and memories over time,” said Ms Bierman. “My work is heavily reliant on dream imagery: I often use my own dreams as a base for the symbols in my work.

” … I view my work as a process of discovery: it is not until I have finished the work that I can start to unpack and extract meaning from it, much like waking from a dream or reflecting on a memory.”

BSoA’s Studio A is currently exhibiting “At My Brother’s Birthday Party”, a collection of worksin acrylic by Amanda Perry and Studio B is displaying the work of Kayla Jackson, a student artist whose work is mainly illustration in mixed media, watercolour and acrylic.

All exhibits at the City Hall gallery run until June 4.
