Ball Hockey: Bermuda Team Defeat Hong Kong
In their opening match of the 2013 World Ball Hockey Championships going on in St. John’s, Newfoundland, Bermuda defeated Hong Kong 8 – 1.
Tom Worthington-White gave Bermuda the lead with 11:08 remaining on the clock scoring a shorthanded goal after Matthew Benson was sent to the Penalty Box for body checking.
The lead was doubled with 7:28 on the clock after Chris Merritt found the back of the net. Bermuda would take a 3 – 0 lead with 4:34 remaining in the first quarter when Benson scored.
There was only one goal scored in the 2nd quarter and that came off the stick of Jean-Michael Tremblay with 5:12 remaining.
Tremblay scored again with 12:43 remaining in the third quarter to make the score 5 – 0 to Bermuda, and then Scott Campbell made it 6 – 0 with 11:04 remaining.
Hong Kong got on the board with 10:59 remaining when Quang Tran scored, but Tremblay completed his hat-trick with 6:07 remaining, Cory Caouette closed out the scoring with 4:39 remaining as Bermuda opening up with a big win.
