Man Pleads Guilty To Threatening Police Officer

June 10, 2013

In Magistrates Court this morning [June 10], Kamal Trott, 36, pleaded guilty to threatening an off duty police officer during a youth cricket game, and was given two years probation and ordered to stay away from youth cricket programs.

The Court heard Trott told  the coach he didn’t “like cops,” poked his finger in the coach’s face, and told him he will “take” him out and “spray” him after the game.”

Crown Counsel Susan Mulligan  noted the defendant had previous criminal convictions, and said his use of the word “spray” could indicate spray with bullets.

Addressing Senior Magistrate Archie Warner, Trott said he did not say he would “spray” the officer, and they just “had words”. He also told the Court that he just started working and attends church.

The Senior Magistrate said Trott has served time in prison, has a record for violence and threatening behaviour, and has “demonstrated that he is capable.”

Saying he was concerned about a man like this being around children, Magistrate Warner gave Trott two years probation and also ordered him to stay away from youth cricket programs.

  1. Truth is killin' me... says:

  2. bermygirl says:

    • Always a boy never a man says:

…..but he’s still a punk. Grow up the World has change since you where in West G.

    • Come On Man says:

      @bermygirl. You are so correct

  3. Y-Gurl says:

An off duty cop, a regular citizen…is there a difference?

  4. Dave says:

Y-Gurl thanks for confirming the thought of most that you are one of the most negative ‘bloggers’ here. You contribute nothing other than negativity – well done!

    • shannon says:

How is Y- Gurls comment negative? She is simply saying it shouldn’t matter if it is a cop a judge or a bum on the street. It shouldn’t happen and the punishment should be the same all around.

      • Zombie Apocalypse says:

He was given probation and asked not to attend certain cricket matches. Not exactly a huge punishment was it.

    • Um Just Saying says:

@ Dave, Y-Gurl is only asking a question.

  5. He should be locked up for life says:

This guy stabbed by dad 16 years ago almost killing him and has been in and out of jail ever since for violent crimes and the Bermuda court system is always giving him a pat on the back. He is disgusting and I hope one day he finally gets what he deserves!!!

  6. Keisha says:

It’s really time that he gets serious help as 1) its getting old and so is he mercy his been in jail most of his life 2) his mother is a teacher who is correcting other people’s children but she really needs to be correcting her own child. If he is not stealing from people he is beating up people or threatening them Grow up Kamal Trott

    • Unjrust Realities says:

@ Keisha . . .Kamal is a grown man who makes his own choices, the fact that his mother is a teacher has no bearing on the choices he has made and continues to make. Parents raise their children in the best manner they know how, what choices their children make thereafter are theirs, not their parents!!

      • Geraldine says:

Totally agree with unjust realities! People, please do not judge! We raise our children to know right from wrong, they choose their own paths when they get older. Out of order for Keisha to bring to the public’s attention that Kamal’s mother is a teacher. His behavior has nothing to do with his parents.

  7. blazer says:

I know that perhaps he needs church and another chance. off duty cops(some) have anger issues also, they see the ex-con and will provoke them into saying or doing something silly. just ask the wives who refuse to press charges against their violent “cop husbands”

  8. Uncle Bob says:

    Damn dude grow up already!!….

I bet you there is a girl/woman in love wih this dude….smh

  9. J says:

Kamal Trott has been in and out of prison for violent crimes after stabbing my father 16 years ago, and almost killing him. He deserves to be in jail for a very long time and the court needs to stop giving him a pat on the back. He is not well and needs to be in jail as he is harmful to society and is not remorseful for his previous crimes and continues to reek havoc on Bermuda citizens.

  10. countrygirl says:

LOFL He is attending church. Why do all these drug addicted peeps always use the church as a scape goat??? And as for the teacher –, she the reason why he is what he is always spoiled his arse. At Prospect Primary she would always be shouting at us calling us Ghetto Children and saying all sorts of negative things to us. Telling us that White people laugh at people like us. No boo they laugh at people like ya loser son. Tiff you need to get away from him. You don’t need your boys around him . What a frickin role model. He been in and out of jail for as long as I can remember. Say Loser.

  11. Shake my head says:

Gosh Kamal……I see things havent changed much since High School. When we all went Warwick Sec. he got into trouble back then as well. I havent kept up with him since school, but i didnt know it got that bad. Kamal needs to grow up and get his life on track. I will pray for you…..you sound like you really need it!

  12. Uncle Bob says:

Kamel Trott is a perfect example of our daft judicial system. He is a success story to the a$$ backward laws and flaws of our system.

It’s quite clear he hasn’t been reformed in the 5 star resort in Dockyard.

We will the parol board take the dark shades off of their faces, they are releasing prisoners way to early!!!!

  13. Mercy rewrote my life says:

People, people, we must forgive this young man.I personally don’t know him or his family. His parents have done all they could. And the choices he makes are his own however, If Jesus could take on the sins of our fathers and all of the world we as a country, island community should be able to forgive. Who was the last person who Jesus forgave just before he gave his up life? Answer: the thief(sinner) Kamal, has sins and must ask God for forgiveness and live.

    • Zombie Apocalypse says:

yeah right. Forgive him so he can threaten people all over the island?

  14. Mercy rewrote my life says:

He who has no sin cast the first stone …
