Video: Jessica Lewis In World Championships
Bermudian sprinter Jessica Lewis began competing in the 2013 International Paralympic Committee World Championships in France on Saturday [July 20].

Lewis took part in the 200m T53 semi-finals, finishing 5th in heat #2 clocking a time of 33.95, a new season best for her.
Lisha Huang of China won the gold medal, Angela Ballard of Australia won the silver and Chelsea McClammer of the USA won bronze.
Lewis — Bermuda’s sole representative at the IPC World Championships — will next hit the track on Wednesday [July 24] where she will compete in the 100m.
Lewis racing in the T53 heats:
Scheduled to run from July 19 through July 28, 2013, the IPC Athletics World Championships are being held in Lyon, France, drawing more than 1,100 athletes from 99 countries around the world.
In the men’s T43 200m, Brazil’s Alan Oliveira — who caused a stir by beating the then-favourite Oscar Pistorius at the 2012 Paralympics — won the gold in record setting style, with his time of 20.66 within the Olympic qualifying standard.
