Ilkeston Football Club Eye Up Bermuda Talent
The Ilkeston Football Club staff in the UK are keeping a very close eye on the successes of the Bermudian National Under 15 side that are competing in the CONCACAF Under 15 Championships in the Cayman Islands.
The CONCACAF tournament has seen teams from 23 member associations take part, including Antigua & Barbuda, Aruba, the Bahamas, Belize, Bermuda, the Cayman Islands, Curacao, El Salvador, Grenada, Guadeloupe, Guatemala, Haiti, Honduras, Jamaica, Martinique, Puerto Rico, St. Kitts & Nevis, St. Lucia, Saint Martin, St. Maarten, St. Vincent & the Grenadines, Trinidad & Tobago and the US Virgin Islands.
Bermuda comfortably progressed through the group stages of the tournament after going through Group A undefeated beating the Cayman Islands 3-0, Aruba 3-1, the Bahamas 1-0, the US Virgin Islands 8-0 and St Maarten 5-0 en-route to the semis.
Bermuda are now set to play Guatemala in the semi finals of the tournament on Friday [Aug 23].
“The young Bermudian talent on display in this tournament includes a host of players that the Robins have access to and are the sort of players that supporters can expect to see join the club in the next couple of years as Ilkeston look set to enhance links with the countries talented footballing network bringing the best Bermudian talent to Derbyshire,”
Earlier this week duo Angelo Simmons and Dominique Williams joined up with the Ilkeston squad on trial linking up with current crop of Bermudian players at the club Antwan Russell, Lejaun Simmons, Rai Simons and Dante Leverock.
