August 26, 2013

Three days after the incident took place, a man appeared in Magistrates Court this morning [Aug 26] charged with the murder of Steven Jireh Iris.

23-year-old Tyrone Pedro was charged with murdering Mr Iris on Friday August 23rd. As the charges can only be heard in the Supreme Court, Mr Pedro did not have to enter a plea. He was remanded in custody and will reappear next month.

Mr Iris, 22, died as a result of a stabbing that took place outside of a residence of Glebe Road on Friday morning. He was taken to hospital via private vehicle with serous stab wounds to the abdomen and he later succumbed to his injuries.

      Who the cap fits

    • chief says:

$$$ can tear apart a family imagine wat it can do to friends…(not sayin that was the motive)

  2. S Smith says:

Bernews always gets the news first!

  3. Inspector Gadget says:

    Hang him if found guilty

    • Not fair says:

He is charged with taking someones life but he’s still someones son/ brother/ grandchild/ nephew/ cousin. Hanging him if guilty solves nothing and truthfully the easy way out. Sitting in jail knowing freedom is only a few feet away is the worst torture.

      • Dat guy says:

Not really torture when u can smuggle in phones get tv laugh with ya boys n get fed 3 times a day ppl fear death if they knew that was a punishment pure guys wouldn’t do the crap they do

        • But mom says:

Would be interesting to see the reactions IF death penalty was introduced.
We would hope that it will change the selfish and ignorant mindset of that group. But at the same time, speaking generally, one boy kills and a government kills the boy to correct the act??? I wouldn’t want to know I paid for that.
I do believe a harsher penaly is warrented for these fools… Sitting around in a jail cell is NOT my idea of punishment.
I wouldn’t mind my tax $$ going toward them being shipped to a 3rd world country, maybe taxes will go down cause the cost will be cheaper…

          • Opressed says:

We/They, are already in the third world, maybe someplace worse than here.

          • Really?? says:

I agree with But Mom. Send them to a jail overseas so they would know what a real jail is like is better than comfortable Westgate (Westgate is a revolving door because it’s not a deterrent). Relatives and friends visit you often, you know other inmates personally, many inmates have relatives in the prison system etc. No reason why we can’t ship them off to a UK jail, we have to pay for them anyway!

      • Seriously says:

And look how much thought he gave those sentiments about someones brother/child etc etc… If you feel so strongly then why don’t you put forth the $$$ to take care of him while he is in jail IF convicted and save the rest of us tax payers a few dollars!! Punishment should suit/match the crime!!

      • Kathy says:

Not here its not torture,my ace boy will smuggle in a gun or a cell free meals bed clothing and a TV when he gets a grade upgrade no bills to pay no taxes not bad..

    • Really?? says:

To inspector gadget – let’s be realistic

  4. Sad says:

    Sad! They were friends.

  5. moneyman says:

    **** friends

  6. Grand Wizzard says:

Stupid mentality, put a name on it, we all know what it is….that mentality is what turns humans into worthless trash, obsessed with lust, money, popularity, etc. It is a sick disease. About 90% of Bermudian youth have it. And a good portion of a certain group of Bermudians.

Pathetic how people are so addicted to this mentality. Totally pathetic. They don’t realize how much of a loser they really are and how them seem to everyone else. Pathetic way of life, giving pathetic results.

All people have to do is NOT give into this mentality, and to find a sensible and good mentality to live life with.

  7. RIP Jireh says:

    confused..what?

  8. Fadda says:

Keep ya head up cuz. Innocent until proven guilty.

  9. tax payer says:

EXECUTE the little b**tard if found guilty!

  10. mixitup says:

Sad to say, but he’s another troubled youngster.

  11. WOLF says:

I went to school with this guy. I used to have a lot of respect for him.

  12. Schoolmate says:

Went school with him. Brilliant mind gone to waste. He’s extremely smart…academically.

  13. Ladeej says:

We don’t know what happened yet. Nevertheless the situation is tragic. One life taken another wasted (if Tyrone is found guilty). I agree the punishments should fit the crimes. Our courts are too soft on violent offenders.

  14. cant tell says:

All I have to say that if u do the crime you do the time just saying if your guilty :(

    • Whistling Frog says:

We’re all guilty. What has happen here is the result of parent failure and neglect of a community that failed our children in the past… Greed, selfishness, disrespect and lawlessness has taken over this country. It has become like the rest of the world, corrupt in many ways…

  15. Tiger Lily says:

When picking a jury – are persons selected screened by their Facebook “friends”, twitter posts, etc? I think that in cases like these, we will have to start importing jury panels.

  16. really says:

Really why do people assume sh..it know one knows what happened that’s bermuda for you hang in there tyrone…. time will tell but is not our right to judge people there where two family that hurt from what happened that deadly morning

  17. Tired says:

The courts here are a joke. You need to get rid of the “life in prison” sentence, and start dishing out real time. You kill someone you get 100 years, no time off for “good behaviour” And we need to adopt the 3 point system. If we have to keep paying for criminals everytime they go to prison, they may as well stay. They have it better than their children they leave out here. Some do not even have food, yet these pieces of craps get 3 squares a day, education, and yes, fun. They need to be put to work, make them clean the island. If the tax payers have to pay for these criminals, they should be working for us.

  18. D&Co says:

OK I’m so tired of all you people who have never been locked up in Westgate saying that it’s comfortable!

    • ann says:

So D&Co. why dont you inform the public how bad it is. Try to stop someone from going there at $86000.00 a person!Personally bring the death penalty back it will make these fools think!

  19. Duhh says:

Nobody knows what they will do until they are pushed the wrong way every Human being has iit in them to kill jz need the right reason do to call a murderer all these names is calling yourself a name!!!!
