Rider Injured In Collision With Trash Truck

An auxiliary cycle rider was injured when the cycle he was riding was involved in a collision with a trash truck at approximately 1.30pm today [Sept 19] on South Shore Road in Southampton.

Emergency services attended the scene near the junction with Rock Sound Road where Fire Service personnel cared for the injured rider until he was transported by ambulance to King Edward Memorial Hospital for treatment. Traffic in the area was restricted temporarily until the vehicles were cleared from the road. Bystanders said it did not appear that the rider was seriously injured.

    Looks like the trash truck was backing out onto a main road. Smart!
    Also, what makes the trash truck drivers think they can drive on the wrong side of the road. Happens all the time on Berry Hill and South Road, Devonshire.
