Cougars Clean Up At BFA Football Awards
The Bermuda Football Association recently held their Awards Ceremony for the 2012/13 Season.
The Devonshire Cougars — who were crowned Triple Crown Champions for the season– finished it off winning all major categories in the Premier Division.
Going along with the Premier Division, FA Cup and Friendship Trophy from last season, they came away with the Premier Division Coach of the Year, Most Valuable Player of the Year, Defensive Player of the Year, Young Player of the Year and Goalkeeper of the Year Awards.
Devonshire Cougars coach Dennis Brown came away with the Premier Division Coach of the Year Award, Brown thanked all involved in the club for the belief and commitment and respect that they have shown.
Devonshire Cougars striker Domico Coddington beat out some strong challengers for the Premier Division Most Valuable Award, while his teammate Darius Cox came with the Premier Division Defensive Player of the Year. Devonshire Cougars’ Chae Brangman who had a breakout season was crowned the Premier Division Young Player of the Year and their goalkeeper Kioshi Trott collected the Premier Division Goalkeeper of the year Award.
In the First Division, Hamilton Parish coach Keishon Smith was named the First Division Coach of the Year, St. David’s striker Angelo Cannonier was named the First Division Most Valuable Player, Calvin Hansley from Hamilton Parish was named the First Division Defensive Player of the Year
Hamilton Parish player Donovan Thompson and BAA player Deondre Trott shared the First Division Young Player of the Year Award title and St. David’s goalkeeper Corey Richardson was named the First Division Goalkeeper of the Year.
The Premier Division Fair Play Team Award went to the Devonshire Cougars, while the First Division Fair Play Team of the Year Award went to Ireland Rangers.
Elihu Holmes was named the Referee of the Year and Jair Ming was named the Young Referee of the Year.
Southampton Rangers striker Dennis Russell was the Premier Division leading goalscorer with 16, while Donovan Thompson from Hamilton Parish finished on top of the goalscoring leaderboard for the First Division with 15.
