A letter included with the planning application said, “This Planning Statement is submitted in support of the proposed Cann Park II Senior Living Community, a purpose-built Special Needs Housing Development designed to provide safe, affordable, accessible and age-friendly residential accommodation for Bermuda’s growing senior population.
“The proposed development consists of a four-level residential building comprising three residential floors above grade and a basement parking level below grade. The development will provide approximately 110 one-bedroom residential units specifically designed to support aging-in-place principles and independent living for seniors and persons requiring accessible accommodation.
“The project seeks approval under the Special Needs Housing provisions of the Bermuda Plan 2018 and represents an important component of Bermuda’s long-term housing strategy by addressing the increasing demand for affordable senior housing while maximizing the efficient use of a strategically located urban infill site.
“The development incorporates accessible design, structured parking, communal amenity areas, landscaped open spaces, recreational facilities, elevators, barrier-free circulation routes, and modern residential facilities specifically tailored to meet the needs of senior residents.”

A nice idea, but where is the $150 MILLION to build it going to come from?
Where do you think? CIT of course.
I bet you would prefer nothing be built so you can continue to complain.
That part. All the do is complain
The photos show no senior added rails or pull cords. What in the photos shows “specifically tailored to meet the needs of senior residents” ?
There is no photo of the bathrooms. How much parking to be available 110 car spots, what about visitors. What accommodations have been made for ease of access with Gurney for emergency services?
This all looks a bit jump the gun, geta promise or a plan out quick to appease the population (PLP M.O.) . Has the daycare facility at old Gilbert institute been finished (or even started) yet?
Question for you – if government is being tasked with providing housing for the public, shouldn’t it come from revenue obtained from the government? where else should it come from? I am really wondering where you think it should come from.
“if government is being tasked with providing housing for the public”
If the PLP Government is providing housing for the public where do I apply for my free home?
For once In your life glue up that hole in your head!! And do something with your life please!!
Do you have an answer to the question or are you one of the many who believe that money falls from the trees and the $500,000 per day debt maintenance costs don’t exist?
Money does NOT fall from trees, it comes out of machines in the wall!
Love it. Let’s go!!!!!!
How many seniors who do not already own their own homes outright will be able to afford living there? Will their children kick in for the rent?
With so many seniors unable to live by themselves due to Dementia etc what happens when one of them do something?
Woa, this does not look very appealing of a facility. Yes to building a seniors facility but this design just looks so bad. Seems like an intern designed this. Start over please.
How many times over does this Government plan to spend the CIT?
That CIT money should be used for nothing else but paying down the massive debt that this Government created.
