Antwan Russell Scores Hat-Trick In Ilkeston Win

December 3, 2013

Antwan Russell2Antwan Russell delivered a hat-trick to propel Ilkeston FC to a 4-2 win over Burton Albion yesterday [Dec 2] in the UK.

Russell, who has represented Bermuda internationally, signed with Ilkeston Football Club earlier this year.

The Club described Russell’s three goals by saying, “Ilkeston FC started the match brightly and went into the break two goals to the good thanks to in-form marksman, Antwan Russell.

“The first of his hat-trick was a product of some fine finishing as the Bermudian opened the scoring with a composed finish.

“His next was a goal to be admired, the 27-year-old raced away from the defence, showed some clean feet, and clinically tucked away the Robin’s second.

“Russell completed his hat-trick soon after the interval. The leggy forward chased down a long ball and was rewarded with a free shot at goal when his perseverance forced the keeper to ricochet a clearance into his path – a goal which the Bermudian richly deserved.”

This is also a ‘hat-trick’ for Bermudian footballers, as Russell is the third Bermudian to record a hat-trick in overseas matches following after Nahki Wells hat-trick against Coventry City on Nov. 17th, and Djair Parfitt-Williams’ hat-trick for West Ham United U18s on Nov. 16th.
