St. George’s To Celebrate Long Serving Educator

February 24, 2014

The Corporation of St. George’s Activities Committee will be hosting a Celebration for a long serving Educator — Ms. Ianthe Pearman — on Thursday [Feb 27] at 1:30pm in King Square [rain venue will be Pennos Wharf Cruise Terminal].

Ms. Pearman is a St. Georgian who has taught many who went through the doors of East End Primary School.

“She has taught many generations of families, and we the Committee felt the need to celebrate Ms. Pearman for her dedication to the East End Community. She is well remembered by many, and will be celebrating her 90th birthday later this year,” a spokesperson said.

Honoring Ms-Pearman

The spokesperson continued, “Ms. Pearman has impacted many lives in St. George’s, and this is just a small way of showing our appreciation for her commitment to the education of many people.

“Ms. Pearman has taught many who have been successful in many sectors in our island such as a former Premier, Members of Parliament, Senators, Mayors, Alderman, Councillors, accountants, assistant police commissioner, engineers, teachers, and the list goes on.

“The Committee consists of Corporation of St. George’s elected members, residents, business owners and the politicians who have an interest in getting St. George’s active again. Members of our committee were students of Ms. Pearman, and therefore, we find the need to honour her now.

“The event is scheduled for 1:30pm – 3pm with participation from past students, colleagues, and current East End Primary School students. Ms. Pearman spent her career teaching at East End Primary, and as we celebrate Black History Month, this is a great way to end February 2014 with a celebration of Ms. Ianthe Pearman.

“The Corporation will also plant a cedar tree at East End Primary School in Ms. Pearman’s honour.”
