The inaugural week-long North Village Community Club – Glasgow Rangers Soccer School Camp kicked off on Monday with almost 100 boys and girls from football clubs across the island taking part in this week’s camp.

The children were divided by age group between two locations, including North Village’s home field at Bernard’s Park and the Whitney Institute grounds, and today [Apr 10] they received a visit from Governor George Fergusson.

“A lot of planning has gone into this camp and we are thrilled to welcome the Scottish coaches to our beautiful island,” said Allan Young, North Village Community Club Vice-President. “The caliber of coaching that has been demonstrated thus far is unparalleled and we couldn’t be happier with how things are progressing.”

When asked of his first impressions, John Joyce, Glasgow Rangers F.C. coach was quick to respond, “We aim to develop professional youth players and we have been impressed by some of the talent that we have seen in these first couple of days. We expect that the Rangers/North Village partnership will be a very fruitful one over the coming years.

“We would also like to offer our best wishes to all Bermuda athletes who will be taking part in the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow this summer. We look forward to welcoming you and offering the same hospitality that Bermuda has graciously shown us.”
