The third Annual Bascome/Lowe Charity Football Classic took place at the Bernard Park last night [May 29], with the Men of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity remaining undefeated in four years as they defeated the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity 2 – 1.
The Alphas took the lead in the first half when PHC Zebras Club President Jonathan Ball found the back of the net in the first half. The Kappas got back into the game when a Zane Stowe 30 yard free kick took a deflection and gave the Alpha goalkeeper no chance locking the score at 1 – 1.
Five minutes late the winner would come from the Kappa’s Ray Jones who beat his marker and calmly stroked the ball home leaving the goalkeeper stranded.
The Classic is named in honour of the late Minister Nelson Bascome [Kappa] and the late Rev. Dr. Wilbur Lowe [Alpha].
