Magazine Shooting Swimsuit Issue In Bermuda
[Updated] Triathlete Magazine — the leading international triathlete magazine — was recently on the island to shoot their 2015 swimsuit issue, with behind the scenes action of the Grotto Bay Resort shoot location being revealed by the magazine on social media.
In a post on photo sharing website Instagram, the magazine said, “Behind the scenes at day one of our 2015 swimsuit shoot at the Grotto Bay Resort in Bermuda. Look for the feature from photographer Jeff Clark in our July issue!”
Triathlete Magazine is known for embracing not only Bermuda’s beautiful scenery, but also its athletes, with Flora Duffy and Tyler Butterfield, as well as his wife Nikki, gracing the publication’s pages over the years.
In 2012, the Butterfields covered the magazine’s April offering, as the issue asked, “Juggling with parenthood? How the pros [like Nikki and Tyler Butterfield] make it work.”
In early 2014, Tyler Butterfield was again featured by the magazine, with the international publication spotlighting his second place showing at the Ironman Cozumel in Mexico in late 2013.
Finally, in 2014, Bermuda’s Flora Duffy was featured twice by the magazine, including a look at her resurgence after she claimed a string of XTERRA victories in Utah, South Africa, Nevada, Australia and Alabama, and an official nod as “Most Impressive Crossover” in the publication’s Best of 2014 Awards.
Update 11.18am: The BTA’s Glenn Jones said, “The Tourism Authority team in New York and Bermuda worked with Triathlete Magazine to secure this opportunity, and the successful photo shoot was due in large part to the support from Grotto Bay Beach Resort and other local partners on the planning and execution.
“We’re all looking forward to July when the magazine’s readers and social media community will get in-depth exposure to the island’s breathtaking scenery.
“We anticipate a multi-page feature of photography and behind-the-scenes video across social channels that will complement our marketing to adventure and sports-seeking travelers.”
Update 1.41pm: Additional ‘behind the scenes’ photos are below, courtesy of Bermuda’s Method Media and one of the models Kristen Palmer.

Very cool!
Kudos to the hard work, persistence and discipline these athletes have demonstrated.
Now lets see if we can get a World Triathlon event in Bermuda. Oh, I forgot we already tried and for some reason it was shutdown???
Churches did that, couldn’t block the roads on a Sunday!
Only real international event of note we ever had!
Great for Bermuda. Not one of the best beaches, though. Does the Tourism Authority hand out a photogenic guide to Bermuda for film and photography crews to that the best of the best is captured? If not, it would be a good idea.
BTW, show us the bikes!!! That’s what I want to see. LOL!
Ride
Perhaps, but I suspect Grotto Bay would have liked to ensure that their property got the lion’s share of the publicity and promotion.
Don’t worry: It was shut down because church people complained that they might not be able to get to church without being ever so slightly inconvenienced on that one day.
So it was thought that it was best not inconvenience these people even in the slightest, so call the whole thing off rather than upset a few church goers on this once only event day. Understandable really if you think about it.
You’d think if god really wanted you in church he’d give you the ability to teleport yourself there wouldn’t he?
When one person talks to an imaginary friend he’s called insane.
When a bunch of people do it, it’s called Religion.
@ C James
Who do you think wakes you up in the morning?
Edwin: my alarm clock wakes me up. Not some superstitious nonsense.
You’d think with over 150 churches on the island – all praying to the same entity – they’d just be able to go to the one closest.
Nice to see someone else using Profoto for once.
You don’t have to be disrespectful of other people’s beliefs to show support for triathlons. It would be great to have an international event here. That said, with planning and sensitivity we could do that and still show respect for those who wish to observe their religious days. What about a triathlon on a Friday?
Seldom do you find major single-day events held on a weekday as opposed to a weekend. That’s simply because you can get more spectators and or TV viewers on a weekend.
To all the commentators about the inconvenience of a Sunday closing. Why not hold the race on any day from Monday to Saturday instead?
Why not go to church another day?
Interesting how Fahy didn’t obstruct this Magazine crew -like all the so called legal obsticles he layed on the the Becky Middleton crew! ‘Two faced Fahy’-that’s for sure!!
Legal Eagle, your argument is poor on this. That was a completely different scenario than having Triathlete magazine coming to Bermuda. This is about promoting Bermuda not delving into a police investigation.
I’m pretty sure there is more than one way to get to your churches… Just go the long way for once… I’m sure your God will appreciate you getting to church a little late just the same!
