Braithwaite & Philip Receive Educational Awards
The Southampton Parish Council has announced the recipients of the Southampton Parish Educational Awards for 2015, with the recipients including Taylor Braithwaite and Carlsen Philip II, both residents of Southampton for over 20 years described as “very deserving candidates.”
A spokesperson said, “It is interesting to note that both young men started out their education together at the Southampton Pre-School and were pleased to reacquaint themselves once finding out they were both recipients of this award.”
Carlsen Philip and Taylor Braithwaite:
“Taylor James Braithwaite has recently graduated with a Bachelor of Honors Degree in Business and Law from the University of the West of England Bristol [UWE] and will begin the Graduate Diploma in Law at UWE. He aims to become a qualified solicitor, with particular focus in corporate law.
“Carlsen Eugene Philip II, has recently graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics with a concentration in Mathematics from Howard University. He will continue his studies at the University of Kent, England. Carlsen plans to return to Bermuda to commence his professional career in the international business sector.”
“The Scholarship Committee was headed by Sharon Wilkinson and included Council members, Dionne Dowling, Leonard Simons and Stacey-Lee Williams.
“The Council wishes both Taylor and Carlsen the best in their studies. Both recipients have agreed to contribute community service to the Southampton Parish when they return to Bermuda.”
