Sunday December 13th: “Good News” Spotlight

News that PartnerRe donated $240,000 as part of their “Dollars For Hours” programme, the RC44 Sailing Series is set to take place in Bermuda for the first time and Miss Bermuda Alyssa Rose advanced in the sports event at the Miss World competition were some of the positive news stories from the past week.

Additional good news stories included Wakefield Quin pledging its support to Meals on Wheels during the holiday season, CedarBridge Academy and the Berkeley Institute staging plays, Digicel launching its ‘Make a Wish’ competition, Nahki Wells notching a goal in a Huddersfield win and Hannover Re donating to the Eliza Dolittle Society.

Other good news stories included the Irish Association and Appleby’s Movember challenge donating $10,833 and $1,455 to charity respectively, Bermudian Rodney Smith Jr continuing his charity lawn mowing service in the USA, and the International Women’s Club filling more than 12 hampers for charity.

We also posted various community photo galleries, including coverage of football, the XL Catlin Christmas Tree contest at Washington Mall, Amlin International Moth Regatta, Clarien Bank’s work with Meals on Wheels, the ‘Dollars for Hours’ fundraiser, the grand opening of the Earth Fare Market, the Home-Grown Alternatives Crafts Show, Santa Claus paying a visit to St. George’s, Berkeley Institute’s production of ‘Peter Pan,’ field hockey and the Christmas Boat Parade.
