Video: Nahki Wells Scores 16th Goal Of Season
[Updated with video] Bermuda’s Nahki Wells scored his 16th goal of the season on Saturday as Huddersfield Town recorded a 4 – 1 win against Leeds United.
The club’s match report said, “An eight minute spell heralding three second half goals gave Town a first derby win against Leeds United in five games in spectacular style at Elland Road this afternoon.
“After Nahki Wells missed a first half penalty and Leeds went ahead, a first away goal for skipper Mark Hudson in one year and four months sent the teams in level at the interval.
“At that point, David Wagner’s side showed a superb clinical edge – with Bermudian Wells at the heart of it. Substitute Harry Bunn volleyed the side ahead before Wells laid a first goal in England on a plate for Karim Matmour, with Wells smashing home a 16th of the season to seal a memorable afternoon.”
Speaking after the match, Huddersfield Town Head Coach David Wagner said, “One of Nahki’s most important qualities is the trust he has in himself. He knows we believe in him too.
“Missing chances is part of the game – and a penalty is a big chance! He stayed focused on the game and the way he created Karim Matmour’s goal was unbelievable. He then finished himself with a chance that was not easy.
“It was a great day for him; after his ups and downs today, I think this is a game he will speak about after his career.”
“Yah de man” ever since Shawn Goater…
Imagine how many goals he could have if Huddersfield would have switched managers earlier. As a fan I was frustrated at how little the former manager played him and for such short lengths. I can only imagine how he must have felt. Glad to see the new manager has faith in him and is letting him play more. Good to see him with his head up, focused and confident!
Bang them in!
