Red Laser Junior Golf Outreach Gets Underway
The first week of the Red Laser Junior Golf Outreach at Port Royal Golf Course has “exceeded all expectations,” with up to 18 juniors participating in the program.
A spokesperson said, “We are appreciative of parents and our advancing junior players who have been helped mentor our entry level players – providing them a good introduction to the great game of golf.
“Former PGA European Tour Pro Kim Swan, the Port Royal Golf Course’s Developmental Program Teaching Pro, pulled together the Junior Outreach with the support of Red Laser owner Joseph Calauro, with a mandate to grow the game of golf through access and outreach.”
Joseph Calauro said, “We are most pleased. Who knows; there may be a future Bermuda champion in the making.”
Kim Swan said, “It has been a blessing for us to have these young people around Port Royal Golf Course in great numbers, it brings back memories of the days when Walter King was the Port Royal Golf Pro and his out reach encouraged many of us to pay golf.
”It is fitting that our world class golf course is facilitating this outreach – thanks to Port Royal management for making the facilities available to us.
“Already, we have juniors and parents looking ahead to golf in the fall during the school year – interested Juniors are being directed to register with the Bermuda Junior Golf Association.”
The five week initiative runs for another four weeks, including July 18 to 22 [week 2], August 1 to 5 [week 3], August 8 to 12 [week 4], and August 15 to 19 [week 5].
“We have a few vacation Bible Schools and Summer Camps who have expressed an interest in August.”
Great job mr Swan and Redlaser.
