Olympics: Pearson Advances To Quarter-Finals
The Bermuda team has commenced competition in the 2016 Rio Olympic Games, with rower Shelley Pearson advancing to the Rowing Women’s Single Sculls Quarter-Finals after finishing third in her heat this morning. Pearson delivered a time of 8:22.15 during the heats to advance to the next round.

Ms Pearson is one of two Bermudians who will be in action today, with swimmer Julian Fletcher set to compete in heat 1 of the men’s 100m breaststroke this afternoon.

She would have WON 3 of those heats !! Good going…
Shelley showed great skill and composure in her race, and an awful lot of graceful speed. I would not be keen to race in those conditions and Shelley did a great job just to stay upright…then qualify for the next round. Watching sculling done well makes it look easy….it is not!! Bermuda is proud of a great athlete.
