Motorcyclist Injured In Collision In Sandys
[Updated] A male motorcyclist was taken to hospital via ambulance following a collision earlier today in the Scaur Hill, Sandys parish area.
A police spokesperson said, “Around 12:15pm today [Tuesday, March 21st] police and first responders were dispatched to a reported two vehicle collision in the Scaur Hill, Sandys parish area – apparently involving a motorcycle and a truck.
“Details are limited at this time. However, initial information suggests that the male motorcyclist involved may have sustained serious injuries.
“The injured rider was transported to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance for treatment – but currently the extent of his injuries is unknown.
“An update on his condition will be provided in due course. Traffic diversions were in effect while the relevant police personnel processed the scene.
“Inquiries continue and any witnesses should contact the main police telephone number 295-0011.”
Update 3.26pm: The police said, “The Scaur Hill section of Somerset Road in Sandys parish where the reported serious collision occurred around 12:15pm has since been re-opened to normal traffic flow and inquiries continue.”
Update March 22, 11.33am: A police spokesperson said, “At last check earlier today [March 22nd] the 29-year- old Sandys parish man injured when the motorcycle he was riding collided with a truck around 12:15pm Tuesday was recovering in stable condition on a general ward at the hospital.
“It now appears that the truck was being driven out of Scuar Hill Drive and the motorcyclist was travelling along Somerset Road when the collision occurred.
“Inquiries continue and any witnesses should contact the main police telephone number 295-0011.”
