Caroline Bay To Host ‘Race For Water’ Gala
Caroline Bay Marina will welcome a 115 foot vessel, Race for Water, to Bermuda on May 22, a 100% energy efficient vessel powered by sun and hydrogen harvested from the ocean.
A spokesperson said, “Bermuda is one of its many stops as she makes her way around the world with a mission of combating ocean pollution. The research conducted while on her journey will be used to hopefully one day eliminate plastic waste in the world’s oceans.
“Due to the significance of the Race for Water odyssey and its impact on the world’s environment, Caroline Bay Marina wanted to highlight and honor a local environmental hero.
“After careful consideration, members of Caroline Bay Marina have selected Mr. Stuart Hayward to honor for his lifetime achievements and dedication to the protection of Bermuda’s environment.”
“On June 1, outside of Team Artemis Racing base on the Caroline Bay, Bermuda property, Caroline Bay Marina will host a semi-formal gala event. Attendees will have the opportunity to tour the Race for Water vessel, prior to the event, between 5:30-6:30pm. The Gala event will begin at 7:30pm.
“During the event a special tribute and award will be given to Mr. Hayward for his life’s work. It is the goal to also acknowledge other local efforts that are paving the way to keep Bermuda’s environment in a sustainable condition.
“The gala event is a ticketed event now open to the public. Tickets and corporate tables can be purchased by visiting the website. If you have any questions about this event, please call Jodi Lewis at 400-5634.
“For additional information about Race for Water please visit raceforwater.org. Tickets cost $300.”
