Arch To Sponsor Island Games Golf Teams

June 6, 2017

The Bermuda Golf Association [BGA] announced that Arch Capital Group Ltd. will be the lead sponsor for the Bermuda men’s and ladies golf teams competing at the 2017 NatWest Island Games in Gotland, Sweden from June 24-30.

Keen Ltd. and Red Laser Ltd. have also agreed to be supporting sponsors of Team Bermuda for the 2017 Games and the upcoming 2017/18 local golf season.

Bermuda will be represented in the Golf competition in Gotland by the men’s team of Walker Campbell, Jarryd Dillas, Will Haddrell and Mark Phillips, and the ladies team of Katrin Burnie, Linda Down, Elizabeth Parsons and Tariqah Walikraam.

Jarryd Dillas, vice-president of the BGA, stated: “On behalf of the players, it really means a lot to know that Arch, Keen and Red Laser have agreed to support Bermuda Golf at the Island Games this summer.

“Arch has obviously been instrumental in TeamBDA’s bid for the Red Bull Youth America’s Cup, so we’ll be aiming to be as successful on the course in Gotland as I’m sure our Bermuda sailors will be on the Great Sound next week!

“Keen and Red Laser have both been consistent supporters of local sports in Bermuda for many years, so we’re extremely grateful that their sponsorship will aid our national team initiatives over the next twelve months,” Dillas concluded.

President of the BGA, Craig Brown, added: “As all national sport governing bodies can attest, corporate sponsorship is absolutely vital when trying to grow your sport and provide increased opportunities for local athletes. Our association is proud that these three organizations have chosen to partner with us as we continue to move golf in Bermuda forward.”

The International Island Games were founded in the Isle of Man in 1985 and today include 24 member islands in, or associated with, the nine sovereign nations of Canada, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Greece, Norway, Spain, Sweden and the UK, plus the Caribbean.

Since 1999, NatWest has been the title sponsor for the Island Games, which have grown to become one of the largest international multi-sport events in the world, behind the Olympics and Commonwealth Games.
