New Tennis Management At Southampton Resort
One of the island’s most successful tennis players, Gavin Manders, and Davis Cup team member Jovan Whitter, have partnered to take over the tennis concession at Fairmont Southampton, with the newly formed Manders Tennis Management [MTM] company.
A spokesperson said, “Made up of three Bermudian tennis professionals, the new team at Fairmont Southampton Tennis Club by MTM is offering a variety of opening specials.
“Set up for success at some of the island’s most scenic tennis courts, overlooking towering palm trees and the crashing waves of Fairmont Southampton’s private beach club near Horseshoe Bay, tennis aficionados can choose from a selection of appealing offers, whether for themselves or their children.”
“Advantage for quick movers: During the launch period, MTM is offering a special Summer Membership. For only $49 per person, members can hit balls as often as they like up until the end of August 2017, with complimentary court rental and night lights daily.
“Furthermore, the new tennis management is currently also one of the only providers of a ball hitting machine on the island.”
“And it’s a match point for the little ones as well! During the summer season, children aged 5 to 14 years can join for Youth Summer Camp [July 3 to September 1, 2017], which provides a social environment for organic individualized tennis development. Through fun games, creative drilling and improvement of fitness and kinetic performance, MTM builds the foundation needed to become a successful tennis player and athlete. Activities vary according to the age, level and stage in tennis development.
“And when it is back to school time, the tennis fun continues: kids can join for the After School Junior Academy from September 4, 2017. This after-school programming offers the opportunity to train four times a week which is recommended to take your game to the next level.
“It further provides a sensible regular activity that keeps children focused on developing their tennis and fitness levels as well as sportsmanship values and social skills in their leisure time.”
“Fairmont Southampton proudly boasts six hard-court, beach-front tennis courts, three of which are lit for play nightly, alongside a fully stocked on-site tennis shop. The tennis facilities have been operated by MTM since this summer. The newly founded company is led entirely by Bermudians – Gavin Manders, Jovan Jordan-Whitter and Earl Leader.
“Tennis Director Jovan Jordan-Whitter is leading all programs at the facility, with the assistance of long time Fairmont Pro, Earl Leader. Jovan has thirteen years of coaching experience at local, regional, and international levels and held the Bermuda junior champion titles from the 12 and under to the 18 and under consecutively. Jovan has recently returned from representing Bermuda at Davis Cup and the Island Games where he received a bronze medal.”
