Family Centre’s Annual Cup Match Tag Day
Family Centre’s annual Cup Match campaign, with title sponsor Clarien Bank, is presently underway, raising funds during the month of July to support Bermuda’s families.
Michael DeCouto of Clarien Bank said, “Clarien is proud to continue its long-standing support of the Family Centre’s Cup Match Tag Day event. This is the 16th year that Clarien [formerly Capital G] has partnered with the Family Centre and our commitment is a reflection of the vital and invaluable services that the Centre provides.
“Funds raised through the annual Tag Day are essential in providing the resources needed for early family intervention services to children at risk in our community.
“Clarien Bank’s Reid Street branch will be the only location on Tag Day offering the traditional Cup Match ribbons rather than Cup Match stickers and we invite members of the public to come and celebrate in the branch where there will be music, a selfie photo booth, free Ashley’s Lemonade, candy and popcorn.
“Clarien employees made a special video supporting the campaign, which can be seen on the Family Centre and Clarien Facebook pages, and will also be raising funds internally to be donated directly to the Family Centre.
“It’s a time to come together for the benefit of all Bermuda families and we encourage the entire community to join us by making a contribution to this important cause.”
A spokesperson said, “Cup Match ribbons are also being sold in advance to companies, organizations and individuals by pre-order. Both team colors are available by calling Family Centre or email to roberta@tfc.prevention.bm.
“Many companies are hosting Denim Days, with donations in-house in return for Cup Match ribbons as part of their internal festivities. It is not too late to join in the fun! And, ribbons may also be purchased at establishments throughout the community.
“Family Centre’s Tag Day has become part of the Cup Match tradition and Bermudians expect the friendly faces of the volunteers who generously give their time to man stations, with donation buckets.”
Martha Dismont, Executive Director of the Family Centre, said, “It is again that time of year when Family Centre has the privilege of holding its fundraiser Tag Day during the Cup Match season. We recognize the importance of honoring Bermuda’s heritage events, and we are so grateful to the public for supporting our Tag Day, while getting into the Cup Match spirit.
“This year our Tag Day will be on Wednesday August 2nd. We are also very, very grateful to Clarien Bank for its continued sponsorship, which brings in a very special level of added excitement to the day! Please remember that even though there will be some ribbons available at gas stations, and business locations, on the day, we will primarily be offering Cup Match stickers at Tagging Stations, in red and blue and blue and blue.
“We look forward to celebrating the holiday with everyone, and we hope that the community continues to support this important fundraiser as we continue to help families in need.”
“The organization is still looking for volunteers! Members of the public can call Roberta Wolffe at 232-1116. Please consider donating one hour of your time to get into the spirit of Cup Match and start your holiday off right.”
