City Food Festival To Begin On Sunday

The City of Hamilton will be hosting the City Food Festival starting on Sunday [Sept 17]. A spokesperson said, “There will be a lot on offer during this week of everything food and drink. The festival starts on Sunday, September 17th. Tickets are available via ptix.bm.” Details on the festival’s individual themes and events follow below:

Just Desserts

Sunday September 17th

Fall in love with this decadent taste temptation, this cake and champagne affair is an elegant way to begin your City Food Festival experience. Chef Competition

Monday September 18th & Wednesday September 20th
5:30pm – 8:30pm

The City Food Festival Chef Competition has created its own fame as Bermuda’s chefs, professionals and amateur enthusiasts go head to head, putting their culinary skills to the test. Four different chefs compete each night & the winner from each night advances to the finals taking place at the Street Festival on Saturday September 23rd.

2016 Chef Champion, Chef Richard “Dick” Reno, will be back to defend his title against challenging chefs Jamuel Pesigan [Rosa’s], Steve Cristofori [home chef] and Grant Guenkel [Red Steakhouse].

Gosling’s Rum Dinner @ Marcus’

Food Walk in Chancery Lane

We invite you to stroll through charming Chancery Lane and sample complimentary cocktails and nibbles from the Lane’s resident eateries. Port O Call, Pearl, Ruby Murry’s and Common Ground will all be on hand to tempt you with their culinary delights. Pair those with sumptuous complimentary cocktails. Live musical entertainment will aptly accompany your ‘walk’ so don’t forget to stop by. Lunch is on us! Turn your lunch hour into a “Happy” one!!

Wine Tasting

Thursday September 21st

Wines are quite complex and exhibit various characteristics, best paired with complimentary foods. Join us as we explore a variety of red and white wines, while learning and understanding the tasting notes. Enjoy the experience of complimentary food pairing with a renowned sommelier and chef. Lili Bermuda has also come on board to pair your wine with a fragrance. Come and experience this unique event and as thanks for attending, there will be ‘goodie bags’ to take home for all ticket holders!

Bacardi Bartender Competition

Friday September 22nd

Drink tickets: $5 each or book of 6 for $25

Prepare for the colour, pizazz and excitement as Bermuda’s Best mixologists throw their shakers in the air, pour delicately designed concoctions and give their most dazzling smiles as they serve up their signature cocktails, vying to be named Bacardi’s Best Bartender. Top prize is a trip to Puerto Rico to visit Bacardi’s HQ & plant. Samples of competition libations will be on offer and bars will also be open to purchase additional cocktails during the event.

Street Festival

Saturday September 23rd
3:00 – 9:00pm
City Hall Car Park
Tickets available at the event only

Over twenty restaurants and vendors will be on hand to tempt you with their culinary delights at the open-air Street Festival in City Hall Car park. Tickets available at the event. Bermuda’s Best Fish Sandwich will be there, tasty temptations from around the world will be on offer and your favourite vendors will be there too. From cupcakes and lemonade to pizza and pastas, bring the entire family down for this all-afternoon foodie event that won’t leave you hungry. All ticket holders will be eligible for Raffle prizes. Vote for your favourite eatery in the Peoples’ Choice award.

Spectators will enjoy the final round of the Chef Competition that will see an overall winner crowned.
The Bermuda Dish Competition will see the judges’ table sample and declare a famous family recipe the winner in the categories of wings, loquat dish, fish chowder, Swizzle and fish cake.

Live entertainment includes DJ Coolie spinning his tunes and DIA featuring Jessie Seymour.
