Senior School Track & Field Gets Underway

Saltus Grammar School and CedarBridge Academy share the lead after the first day of the Bermuda School Sports Federation Senior School Championships. Both teams top the tables with 157.50 points. The Berkeley Institute follow close behind on 147.50. All three teams will be vying for the title tomorrow evening when all of the track finals will be held.

Saltus claimed three of the four 3000 meter titles. Jessie Marshall and Nick Narraway won the under 16 girls and boys race while CARIFTA qualifiers Ashley Irby and Berkeley’s Robert Edwards topped the podium in the over 16 division.

Berkeley’s high jump sensation Sakari Famous proved she is not a one trick pony after winning the over 16 girls javelin and long jump events while middle distance Runner Messiah Greaves claimed the triple jump title for Bermuda High School.

Asrael Basden from CedarBridge Academy was victorious in the under 16 javelin and finished third in the shot put behind school mate Jah-Qala who won with a throw of 10.42 meters. Gabriella Medeiros finished first in the high jump for Bermuda High School

Berkeley’s Samuel Darrell won the under 16 boys high jump with a leap of 1.80 meters and finished second in the triple jump behind school mate Jaden King. Andre Woollery won the javelin event representing CedarBridge Academy.

Cameron Coffey was the top performer in the over 16 boys division winning the javelin event with an impressive 44.44m and finishing second in the shot put behind CedarBridge Academy’s Jahnia Trott. Omar Wilson from CedarBridge claimed the long jump title after leaping 6.65 meters.
