Four people were in Supreme Court this week in connection with the financial aspects of the failed Par-la-Ville hotel development.
Former Mayor of Hamilton Graeme Outerbridge, Corporation of Hamilton Secretary Ed Benevides, developer Michael MacLean and his wife, Yasmin MacLean, were not required to enter a plea and their next court date is October 1st.
Previously, in Magistrates Court, Mr Outerbridge, Mr MacLean and Mr Benevides were charged with dishonestly obtaining property, namely $15,449,858, in October 2014 belonging to Mexico Infrastructure Finance Ltd [MIF] with the intention of permanently depriving MIF of their property and falsely representing to the Bank of New York Mellon that the terms of escrow agreement had been satisfied and the release of the funds was thereby sanctioned.
At the same previous Magistrates Court session, Mr and Mrs MacLean were charged with theft, that between October 2014 and November 2014, they allegedly stole $13,749,858 belonging to MIF. They are also charged with money laundering in connection with the funds.
