Awareness Events To Highlight Role Of Statistics
Today [Oct 15], the Department of Statistics will observe Caribbean Statistics Day, with a of “Building Resilience of the Caribbean”.
A Government spokesperson said, “Today, 15 October, the Department of Statistics will observe Caribbean Statistics Day, with this year’s theme being ‘Building Resilience of the Caribbean.’
“For the occasion, the Department will host a series of awareness events this week to highlight the role of statistics in the community.
“Today, 15 October from 12.00 p.m. – 2.00 p.m., the Department of Statistics is encouraging members of the public to visit their booth in the lower level of the Washington Mall to learn more about the 2016 Census data which will be on display.
“Interested persons can find out how their parish compares to the rest of Bermuda. More information on the 2016 Census can be found here.
“On Wednesday, 17 October, the Hon. Lovitta Foggo, the Minister for the Cabinet Office with Responsibility for Government Reform will recognize high performing 2016 Census interviewers with a presentation.
“This week, Census and statistics related information will be shared with schools, the media and the wider community. For the first time, the Department will be launching a series of infographics which are graphic visual representations of data. These infographics will focus on census topics and parish profiles.”
Minister Foggo said, “Each year, Bermuda joins several countries in recognizing Caribbean Statistics Day. The occasion serves as an opportunity to create an awareness of the important role statistics and data collection plays in our daily lives.
“On behalf of the Department, I wish to thank all data providers including residents, non-government organizations, businesses and other Government departments for their assistance and participation.
“Lastly, I would like to take this opportunity to acknowledge our employees in the Department of Statistics and the service they provide for our community.”
