Over 300 Complete ‘Grow Eat Save’ Workshops
Over 300 residents have successfully completed the Grow, Eat, Save workshop since it was introduced by the Department of Health in March 2017.
A Government spokesperson said, “His Excellency, Governor John Rankin and the Minister of Health, the Hon. Kim Wilson, JP, MP attended the Grow, Eat, Save workshop led by Chaplain Kevin Santucci. Over 300 residents have successfully completed the workshop since it was introduced by the Department of Health in March 2017.
“The eight-week workshop was created to encourage residents to start home gardens. For this class, the guest presenters were professional farmers, Norwood Salaam, who explained how to transplant vegetables correctly, and Steven Douglas provided instruction on the correct way to plant cassava. Recently, Claire Jessie, from the Department of Environment gave a lesson on how to control common garden pests and insecticides.
“At the completion of this workshop on 18 April, the 50 participants will have gained further knowledge and hands-on skills on how to plant and how to prepare a garden.
