Jonté Smith Debuts In Cheltenham Town Match
Bermuda national football team forward Jonté Smith and his Cheltenham Town Football Club won at the Jonny-Rocks Stadium on Saturday [Sept 7], beating Stevenage 4-2 in Sky Bet League Two action.
Making his debut appearance for Cheltenham Town, Smith was brought in to the game as a substitute in stoppage time, with a few minutes left on the game clock.
Team manager Michael Duff praised the character his Robins side showed but felt they could have been even more lethal in front of goal.
In an interview the Cheltenham Town manager said, “I thought we left them off the hook first half,” he said. “I thought we should have been three, four, five even.
“That was the disappointment – we knew what was coming – and we didn’t deal with it. There was almost relief at the end of it that we’ve got ourselves out of jail.”
Jonté signed with Cheltenham Town earlier this month and in an interview said, “I’ve been trying to get this over the line for a while and it’s finally happened so I’m over the moon and excited to get started.”
