Traffic Delays Due To Collision On South Road

[Updated] Emergency services responded to a collision in the South Road area this morning [Dec 31] that resulted in two people being injured.

A police spokesperson said, “Major traffic delays expected for vehicles coming out of the west headed into town, as a result of a collision in the area of South Road junction with White Sands Road.

“Around 7:52am this morning, police and first responders were dispatched a two-vehicle collision involving a car and a cycle, near White Sands Road.

“Details are limited however as a result of the collision; two persons have been taken to KEMH for treatment of their injuries. The extent of their injuries is not known at this time.

“Traffic headed east is being diverted onto Harbour Road through Valley Road with west bound traffic being diverted at South Roundabout.”

Update 11.30am: A police spokesperson said, “Two people taken to hospital following a serious road traffic collision in Paget this morning.

“The collision involving a bike and a car occurred at around 7:52 am in the area of South Road near the junction with White Sands Road in Paget.

“The bike rider sustained a broken left leg and facial injuries. His pillion passenger also a male, sustained a broken left leg. The driver of the car was not hurt.
None of the injuries are considered to be life threatening.

“The roads were closed to allow the scene to be processed by officers the police forensic support unit and traffic collision investigators with traffic out of and into the west end being diverted to Harbour Road.

“Eyewitnesses or anyone with information about this road traffic collision is asked to contact the roads policing unit on 247-1523 or the main police number 295-0011.”

      NOT a great way to end a year. Please be a little more considerate with your choice of words. A young man we love and care about is In the hospital in plenty of pain right now and people who care about him have been extremely anxious over this. Happy New Year

    I saw the aftermath of this accident. It looked horrific. Sooo glad there was no loss of life.
