Community & Members Clubs Can Operate
Community clubs and members’ clubs are now able to operate on the same basis as bars, Premier David Burt said today.
A Government spokesperson said, “As part of the ongoing efforts to reopen Bermuda, Premier the Hon. David Burt, JP, MP today highlighted additional changes to the Continuing Precautions Regulations made to the benefit of community clubs and members’ clubs as part of revised Regulations made yesterday [Thursday] by the Governor.
The Premier said, “These clubs are a lynchpin in the social fabric of our community and serve as meeting places, sports centres and home to good food and fellowship. In keeping with what has been done for other establishments, community clubs and members’ clubs are now able to operate on the same basis as bars, providing outdoor service if they hold a liquor license.”
“The Regulations require:
- “tables shall be—at least six feet apart; or where that is not reasonably practicable, separated by barriers at least 6.5 feet high;
- “no group at any one table shall exceed ten persons and no group shall exceed 20 persons in total;
- “no customers shall stand at the bar or elsewhere;
- “indoor areas of the bar shall remain closed;
- “access to toilets permitted in accordance with directions issued by the Minister of Health.”
The Premier concluded, “I would also like to take this opportunity to wish Bermuda’s fathers a Happy Father’s Day on Sunday and encourage everyone to celebrate fathers and the vital role they play in families and in the community.”
