Video: “We Take Action” March Today

June 1, 2020

[Updated] Saying they are “aware of a planned march for today,” Minister of National Security Wayne Caines urged people to conduct themselves in a respectful and responsible manner, wear a mask or face covering and practise physical distancing.

While Minister Caines did not mention specifically what the planned march was about, we assume, not know, that is he referring to the one that is planned for 5.00pm today, as per the flyer below which has been posted on social media and appears to be organised by the same group who launched an online petition.

Minister Caines said, “We are aware of a planned march for today. Freedom of expression and public demonstrations are time honoured and effective practices guaranteed under our Constitution. Such forms of assembly are part of healthy democracy and we respect an individual’s right to peacefully protest.

“We want to encourage participants to conduct themselves in a respectful and responsible manner as they share and express their views during this public forum.

“I have spoken to the Commissioner of Police and he has advised that Police will be present and that a liaison officer has contacted the organizers of the march to ensure that today’s activities run smoothly.

“Lastly, it’s critically important to remember that today’s march is taking place against the backdrop of a global pandemic. In that regard if individuals plan to assemble, I am urging you to please exercise the appropriate health and safety protocols.

“Please wear a mask or face covering. Please practise physical distancing. And most of all, please act responsibly for the safety of yourself and your loved ones,” the Minister added.

Time for some police re-training here too our police are not above putting knees in peoples necks, quite common practice, not for murderers and rapists of course, but in the failed ‘war on some drugs’.

  4. Wakeup says:

George and Armaur, and all the other African Americans that have been murdered could have easily been a black Bermudian man in America in a situation with those racist American white police. Bermudians travel all the time to the USA and we are not far removed from these situations as some would like to think.

Seriously? That’s quite a leap and made for TV drama!

Even if you are a Republican or OBA supporter, if you are Black and in a perfect “racist profile” storm, supporting Trump or your OBA membership aint gonna save you from the dreaded wrath of Racist Cops!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  5. OMG says:

OMG – the brother of the fallen man was so dramatic on TV as was the Bermuda contingent protesting at the US Consul! Really? Many people including the media are using this as a lightening rod and the looting and violent demonstrations have no place in this!

  7. aceboy says:

Why is the appointment of a US Consulate part of a BLM march? Two totally separate issues. Just another attempt to paint the entire US administration as racists, which is politics not reality. I don’t vote in the US and I refuse to be dragged into a political manipulation scheme perpetrated by the main stream media and the democratic party.

  8. Imjustsaying says:

Everybody who doesn’t agree with the far looney lefts idiocracy is labled a racist.
