US Consul: Bermuda One Of Safest Destinations
As the world continues to face challenges during the global pandemic, U.S. Consul General Lee Rizzuto said he “considers Bermuda to be one of the safest destinations on the planet.”
“The testing regime for COVID-19 on the island has been effective as the number of cases remain low. The strict protocols put in place for travelers and residents by the Government of Bermuda has limited risks island-wide, and has created a generally safe environment for many with the opening of the airport and resumption of most businesses,” a statement from the U.S. Consulate said.
“On August, 7, 2020, in close coordination with the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention [CDC], the Department of State lifted the Global Level 4 Health Advisory, which was initially put in place on March 19, advising U.S. citizens to avoid international travel.
“The lifting of the Level 4 Advisory has reduced the risk status for many countries, including Bermuda, to Global Level 3. All U.S. citizens are advised to read country specific Travel Advisories and U.S. Embassy and Consulate COVID-19 pages for updates on the impact of the virus worldwide.
“We encourage U.S. citizens to stay informed and follow updates on Travel.state.gov and to enroll in the Smart Traveler Enrollment Program [STEP] to receive timely Alerts about evolving health and safety conditions in their planned destinations. Visit the Consulate’s COVID-19 page for more information. Official guidance for visitors can be found on the Government of Bermuda’s website – www.gov.bm/coronavirus-travellers.”

If Bda is one of the ‘safest destinations’, why does CDC categorise it as ‘High Risk’ (Level 3)? Also, why does it consider typhoid and rabies (from bat bites??) as risks in Bda? Given this is the same body that a few years ago also listed Bda seawater as sufficiently polluted that it was unsafe to swim here, they have no credibility whatsoever in my eyes. However, their pronouncements could have a significant effect on tourism in Bda. They are almost as inept as the rating agencies…..
Because the PLP is in power and a disaster happens every day under their watch!
Because the CDC wants to keep everyone scared at all times. They take their orders from the WHO, who take theirs from CHI-NA.
U.S. Consul General Lee Rizzuto, get your country to reduce our travel rating even further. This rating is crap! It states to avoid any unnecessary travel. It is us who should be avoiding your country, not the other way around!
