$40,000 In Receipts For Taste Of Bermuda
The receipts submitted over the three day Taste of Bermuda event came to $40,000, almost 2,500 people attended, 18 gallons of fish chowder were served, and 6.5 gallons of hand sanitizer distributed.
These were some of the numbers provided by the City of Hamilton following the recent Taste of Bermuda drive in culinary event.
A spokesperson said, “With a successful Taste of Bermuda now a scrumptious memory, the City of Hamilton reveals the numbers behind this unique culinary experience and how they have benefitted the City’s ratepayers.
“Each night of the three-day affair, attendees were asked to bring receipts that represented a total spend at Hamilton eateries of at least $25.00 that would serve as their entry into the event. The City has meticulously added up the receipts submitted over the three days which came to a staggering $40,000.00.”
Senior Events & Marketing Coordinator at the City, Allison Tucker, said, “We were absolutely blown away by the total. The injection of funds into these City businesses that have been suffering since COVID-19 hit us, is the economic stimulus we were looking for, but the total amount has just floored us. We couldn’t be more thrilled with that total.
“We saw sixty-five eateries in Hamilton patronized in the lead up to Taste, as evidenced by the receipts. The reach was far, from Front Street to North Street, everyone got a piece of the bigger pie. This model for an event has proven to be an incredibly effective way to partner not only with the businesses and our sponsors but also with the public as we navigate through the pandemic and stimulate our economy. We all have to do our part.”
“Close to 2,500 foodies and film buffs packed the car park over the three nights and more than 16,000 social media impressions were recorded. Eighteen gallons of fish chowder were served, 6.5 gallons of hand sanitizer distributed and almost 60 people were on hand to organize, manage and execute the Taste of Bermuda Drive-In Experience.
“With the holiday season fast approaching, the City will be offering another drive-in weekend activity that will benefit the City’s retailers and provide some holiday cheer to Bermuda. Stayed tuned to the City’s social media and website for more details in the coming weeks.”
