Dr Guishard To Participate On International Panel
Bermuda Weather Service [BWS] Director, Dr. Mark Guishard will be a virtual panelist in the Atlantic International Research [AIR] Centre’s All-Atlantic Summit this week.
AIR Centre is an international collaborative framework addressing global challenges and local priorities the Atlantic Ocean.
“Last year, I met one of the principals of the AIR Centre at a meeting on Space and Sustainability, hosted by the Government of Bermuda. Subsequently, I was invited to participate in the AIR Centre’s All Atlantic Summit, being held virtually this week,” Dr. Guishard said. “
The panel discussion on Wednesday will be about extreme weather and resilience – something Bermuda knows a little about, as highlighted by our two storm impacts just last month.”
AIR Centre promotes an integrative approach to space, climate, ocean and energy in the Atlantic, supported by emerging technological innovations and advances in data science.
Dr. Guishard said, “I am pleased and honoured to join esteemed colleagues with expertise in research, forecasting and climate from the meteorological services of Portugal and South Africa; the Euro-Mediterranean Center on Climate Change; and former academic advisors and colleagues from Penn State University.
Additional Bermuda presenters from the Department of Environment and Natural Resources and the Bermuda Institute of Ocean Sciences will also be addressing in the virtual AIR Centre Summit this week.
