Still Awaiting The First Bermuda Baby Of 2021

January 5, 2021

The old adage says ‘good things come to those who wait,’ and it seems this will hold true for the start of the new year, with the island still awaiting the first Bermuda baby of 2021 as of January 5th.

A quick look back at Bernews archives show that over the past few years, the first baby of the year is often born on New Year’s Day, and last year we actually had two new babies born by 1pm on the first day of the year.

Over the past few years, the island generally has 520 – 590 new babies born a year, in 2019 there were 525 births, in 2018 there were 530, in 2017 there were 576 births, and in 2016 there were 591 births, in 2015 there were 583 births.

The birth numbers here have dropped recently, doesn’t surprise me on no births yet.
