27,727 Total Vaccinations Administered

March 11, 2021

[Updated] As of March 10th, there have been a total of 27,727 vaccinations given, with 17,395 people having received their first dose, while 10,332 have had both doses.

In releasing the latest test results, the Government also provide some brief vaccination statistics saying, “As of 10 March 2021, 17,395 people have received their first dose of the Covid-19 vaccination, and 10,332 are fully immunized, for a total of 27,727 vaccinations.

“27% of Bermuda’s population is now vaccinated, and of them, 16% is immunized. This represents an increase of 6340 vaccinations since our last report on 2 March.”

“There were 2,312 online registrations during Feb. 28-March 6, bringing the total to 23,189, 45% are white, 25 % are black, 19% Other, and 11 % mixed.”

Update: To clarify this it can get confusing with the 1/2 dose thing, there have been a total of 27,727 vaccinations given. 17,395 had 1st dose only [27% of population when using a population of around 64,000] and 10,332 had 1st & 2nd dose [16% when using a population of around 64,000]. The 16% who had both doses are already counted in the 27% who had first dose only.

The Government has previously said “Bermuda’s goal of ‘herd immunity’ will be achieved when 70% of the population [64,054] has been immunized,” and by immunized they mean having had two doses. The chart below shows progress towards the goal of 70%, and you can view additional vaccine data here on BermudaCovid.com.

    OMG! SMH!

The last time I checked Bermuda’s population was not 100,000 people so the first dose vaccination rate must be much higher than the 27% stated here. Let’s get it right – this is something to be proud of.

Morning. It can get confusing we know with 1/2 dose thing, so we added an update which we hope makes it more clear, and we will try and be more clear going forward. They said 17,395 had 1st dose only, and said that was 27% of population, which means they are using a population of around 64,000!

      • Devonshire1 says:

I realize that 64,000 is taken from the last census, however lets be honest, Bermuda’s current population is probably closer to 59,000.

While we can slice and dice the stats what we must not forget is that we wouldn’t have the topic to debate if it were not for the sense of duty the UK has to its OT’s

Its high time that we as a community thank the UK for the support it has given us.

I know many in the US that are struggling to obtain this vaccine and its being widely made available to Bermudians.

As a tax payer, voter and Bermudian I would love to see our Government speak for us on this point and thank the UK for its support.

Thank GOD someone with courage. Hope the Government listens.

Thank you Bernews for getting the math right.

Another media has totally bungled the calculation and this is why, at least basic math has to be taught in Bermuda’s schools. It’s just a simple logic exercise and then the use of percentages folks. It’s not complicated.
