Mosaic Insurance Builds Out Global Claims Team

April 29, 2022

Industry expert Elissa Doroff has joined Mosaic Insurance to lead the company’s North American claims handling as it builds out the core division globally.

A spokesperson said, “Based in New York, Doroff has been appointed Head of Claims Americas for Mosaic, and over time will expand the unit’s scope to serve a broad geography encompassing the US and Canada. Her hiring follows another recent addition to Mosaic’s claims team in Rachel Haffenden, who joined the specialist insurer’s London office last month as Senior Claims Adjuster. The division has been led since Mosaic’s launch in February 2021 by Natalie Graham, a lawyer who previously held managerial roles at Syndicate 4000 and Aon.”

“I’m thrilled to welcome Elissa and Rachel to the team,” said Graham. “They each bring a wealth of experience that enables Mosaic to provide highly technical and region-specific expertise as we partner with our insureds throughout all stages of the claims process.”

Doroff has more than 15 years of industry knowledge and will work with Mosaic’s brokers and insureds throughout North America across the company’s six product lines. She started her insurance career as claims counsel with AIG, and later was cyber and technology product manager at AXA XL. She also has extensive experience counseling companies and proactively mitigating risk from her tenure on the broker side, including roles at Marsh and Lockton. Prior to 2006, she began her legal career in tax with Deloitte.”

“Having worked on all sides of the insurance equation, from claims and underwriting to product management and broking, I am thrilled to get back to my true passion in insurance—claims,” said Doroff. “I value the opportunity to work with such a dynamic team comprised of true industry pioneers. I look forward to contributing to the innovation and success of Mosaic.”

Haffenden has handled specialty lines claims in the London market since 2009, most recently at a Lloyd’s syndicate where she dealt with complex claims across multiple jurisdictions.

“Key tenets of the Mosaic team’s philosophy are personalized service and an integrated approach to claims management—embedding claims into all lines of business from the outset of policyholder and broker engagement,” the company said.

“Mosaic’s six specialty lines are selected for their high technical barriers to entry and relevance to current and projected global market conditions. They include: cybersecurity, political risk, political violence, transactional liability, financial institutions, and professional liability.”

“We have the expertise in-house to deal directly with our policyholders and brokers on the most complex claims,” noted Graham. “Of course, as an innovative company with pioneering insurtech, we automate as much as we can, but tech is only part of the puzzle. Our goal is to build longstanding relationships with our insureds and to be on hand to provide guidance before, during, and after any claim arises.”
