Daniel Literary Award To Be Presented On May 1
Atlantic Publishing House will honour Bermuda’s male authors with its newest award, the Daniel Literary Award, on Sunday, May 1 at the Leopards Club International.
A spokesperson said, “In 2019, Atlantic Publishing House honoured 16 female writers for their literary works at two separate events with the awarding of The Crystal Butterfly Literary Awards. This was significant because it was the 25th anniversary of the publication of Transitions: Voices of Bermuda Women, which to date has been the only book published featuring all female authors. The Crystal Butterfly Literary Awards will return June 5 when eight more female authors will be honoured.
“Covid prevented the implementation of the Daniel Literary Awards for Bermuda’s male writers. Since the inception of The Writers Machine in 1979, Bermuda authors, male and female, have flourished with a variety of books being published. They have all added a tremendous amount of information and pleasure to Bermuda life.
The Writers’ Machine helped numerous persons to get into publishing and has morphed into Atlantic Publishing House with its last published book Reflections of St. David’s. We also award The Triumph of the Spirit Award at each event.
“On May 1st at 1.30 p.m. at The Leopards’ Club International Atlantic Publishing House will honour Bermuda’s male authors with its newest award, The Daniel Literary Award.
“Tickets for this event are $35 and can be purchased from The Music Box from Tuesday to Saturday, 10 am to 5.00pm [cash only] or by calling 595-9841.
“The second Crystal Butterfly Literary Awards for female authors will take place on June 5 at The Leopards Club at 1.30pm with guest speaker Patrice Frith. The names of those selected will be released shortly.”
