BELCO: Fault In Hamilton Being Repaired
[Updated] BELCO advised that there has been a “fault in the underground transmission network in Hamilton under Dundonald Street between Parliament Street and Court Street.
A spokesperson said, “BELCO crews are on-site and work to fix the fault will commenced Monday evening. As the fault is underground repairs are expected to last until Friday, May 6th.
“For the safety of motorists, pedestrians and BELCO staff, traffic controls will be in place to allow work to be carried out safely and motorists are advised to take alternative routes.”
BELCO President Wayne Caines said: “This was an unexpected fault and I would like to apologise for any inconvenience this causes the public while our crews work as quickly and safely as possible to fix the issue.”

Update 9.40am: A spokesperson said, “The City of Hamilton wishes to advise the motoring public that the junction of Court and Dundonald Street is closed to all traffic.
“There will be no vehicular traffic allowed in this area of Dundonald Street and all vehicles, including tractor trailers, will have to use alternative routes until further notice.
“This closure is due to Belco undertaking emergency repairs to their underground cables in this area which has left a significant opening in the road at this junction. In the interest of safety, the City has decided to close this section of the road until Belco completes their repairs which is anticipated to be by end of day tomorrow.
“The City apologizes for any inconvenience caused as we prioritize the safety of motorists.”
